It’s the same basic formula: get your starter, defeat your rival(s), blaze through gym leaders, fight a villainous team (or two), become the Champion. As each generation passes, beating the game’s main storyline becomes easier and easier, with little buffs to items and nerfs to opponents making a game less difficult to finish than the last.
