As before, we end our articles on the Spinarak line with a collection of fanworks of the Pok\u00e9mon! Although they’re not the most memorable of generation two Pok\u00e9mon, there’s a wealth of art out there on the pair of Pok\u00e9mon.\u00a0<\/span>

And don’t worry – nearly every artist got the number of legs right.<\/span>

A rather cute image to open. DJ Spinarak is in the house! Not a bad career choice for the Pok\u00e9mon, given how it gets to use all those legs to its advantage. While the notes in the image seem a bit messy (maybe it’s just practicing?), it’s an undeniably cute image.\u00a0<\/span>It even has headphones.<\/em>

A less cute image here, but that’s probably not a surprise given the username used by the artist. There’s a noticeable amount of red in the painting, particularly around the fangs of all those Spinarak. And those smiles upon their back don’t look all that inviting. Add in all those white eyes from the numerous silhouettes of Spinarak in the background, and you may not be so keen on trying to recruit one as a DJ anymore.\u00a0<\/span>

A sad-faced Spinarak upon a leaf. The green colours work well with each other and the leaves have some detail to them as well, but you can see that the artist got the number of legs wrong, and they do appear to be a touch wonky. This is part of a neat project where the artist has been filling out his own ‘Pok\u00e9dex’ on his site, just with art of each Pok\u00e9mon.<\/span>

We were unable to track down who made it – it may have been by an artist on the website Pixiv, but if so they had taken it down by the time someone had uploaded it to this website. A neat pairing of two different spider Pok\u00e9mon. I like how the poses of the legs seems to suggest the Spinarak is trying to poke that Pok\u00e9mon on its back.<\/span>

Spinarak, spinarak, does whatever a spiderman might do. An easy idea for a parody, but an amusing one nonetheless. The blur effect on the background might have been a touch overdone in trying to make the Spinarak-man appear to be moving, but I like how the alternate suit for it matches the original design for the Pok\u00e9mon pretty decently.<\/span>

This would have taken quite some time! This picture is made from individual dots, and the artist here even went to the effort of doing a background and some detailed flowers in the foreground on top of the Spinarak. There’s even shading going on. An impressive effort.<\/span>

Another bug Pok\u00e9mon has decided to sit on a Spinarak, but this… didn’t work out too well. It has an amusing expression and unfortunate pose, and the Caterpie doesn’t seem very understanding about the trouble it’s causing.\u00a0<\/span>

A horror one-shot. The gist of the story is that Spinarak kidnap children. Whatever could go wrong?…oh wait. The story does well in slowly increasing a sense of dread as the story continues, and there’s some nice description too. Unless you’re being kidnapped. Then the description isn’t pleasant at all.<\/span>

3D models are shown off here, which is a neat sort of medium to create Pok\u00e9mon works from. And it even comes with an environment as well! The image is taken from the undergrowth which is a nice position for the situation. Here Ariados stare down a family of Chikorita. This doesn’t seem like it’s going to end well…\u00a0<\/span>

I don’t think the artist was very fond of Pichu. A giant Ariados features here – those legs look more like stilts here, which just makes the Pok\u00e9mon seem even more menacing. There’s some nice colouring work here too. The moral of the picture is to not wander into caves if you are a Pichu.\u00a0<\/span>

This environment is rather unlike a lot of the others we’ve seen in the other pictures. I suppose even Ariados like river banks. It’s very well drawn too to be fair, and there’s very nice shading employed here. One of my personal favourites from the bunch.\u00a0<\/span>

Unique positioning here – often people will put their subject flat in the middle, which isn’t always the best choice. Here the majority of the picture is just blank space save for a couple strands of web, which helps the two Pok\u00e9mon here stand out all the more. There’s really some beautiful colours here, but that’s the least of the Beautifly’s worries. Look at the poor thing. Alas, it’s all Ariados this time around.<\/span>

I quite like the flying sand effect here, and there’s good depth added to the dunes as well. Not sure what a Spinarak would be doing on a beach or desert, but it doesn’t look very happy about it. Those green webs give quite an interesting effect in making this image rather dynamic. The way the legs are drawn and the body hunched over like that make this a rather aggressive pose as well, and certain attention grabbing. Wouldn’t want to cross this spider.\u00a0<\/span>

This looks really nice in my opinion with the clean colouring, and if you look closely the lineart is in different colours as well. The artist drew this after catching a shiny Spinarak. That’s quite lucky of them, and as a result, lucky for us too.<\/span>

The shading is nice, and the style on the spider web rather neat too (if a little messy in places like the top right corner), but the best part of the picture is probably that Spinarak in the corner, leaning out of it to wave a leg at you. There wasn’t actually many pieces of art out there showing a parent Ariados with multiple Spinarak offspring, which tends to be the case with real life spiders. This is one of them. The legs are quite pointy of the Ariados, and clearly makes it stand out from its children. They might not be seeming to walk quite naturally, but overall it’s a solid piece of art with nice lineart.\u00a0<\/span>
